Napton's windmill is a prominent landmark. This is an unusual settlement in that the village circles the hill, but only the church and windmill were built on the summit.
The busy Oxford Canal joins the Grand Union Canal at Napton Junction. The village as always been large, surviving whilst surrounding villages were depopulated. The older houses are local sandstone and would once have had thatched roofs.
More information on this unusual little village can be found on the Napton-on-the-hill website.
