Cherington is a village that lies 3 miles southeast of Shipton-on-Stour. The Stour is a tributary of the Avon, which it joins just outside Stratford-upon-Avon.

The parish church of Saint John the Baptist has 13th century features such as the Gothic east windows of the chancel and the lower stages of the bell tower. The upper stages of the tower are 15th century, as are the perpendicular Gothic clerestorey and roof of the nave.
